What Are The Different Types of Lip Injections?

Lip treatments have seen a significant rise in popularity over the past few years. This trend, arguably reignited by Kylie Jenner, now seems like a more feasible and reasonable option for anyone seeking a more voluptuous pout.

Motykie Medical Spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie, provides lip filler injections to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

Types of Lip Filler Injections

There is more to lip enhancement med spa treatment than appears on the surface. There are three primary types of lip injections, and each as a distinct “look” it can create.

Top celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie elaborates that the common fillers used for lip enhancement are Juvéderm Ultra XC, Restylane, and Juvéderm Volbella XC. He further states that the other fillers that are used are off-label, but these are most commonly used in his practice.

According to Dr. Motykie, it may seem like a lip injection is merely a lip injection, but there are various ways to create the patient’s desired outcomes.

Each filler has different abilities to augment, add lift, or alter the lip shape. The lip feel is of utmost importance. He explains that the thinner the filler, the more it conforms to the surrounding tissue.

The plastic surgeon will certainly explain the best option for the individual needs of the patient. But if the patient has some knowledge of what each filler does, it can help them make a well-informed final decision. The three main types of lip injections are as follows:

Restylane

Dr. Motykie elaborates that Restylane is a hyaluronic acid based med spa filler with a high affinity for water. This essentially means that it can effectively retain moisture for plumper lips.

Dr. Motykie explains that Restylane has a high G prime elasticity meaning that it has an excellent ability to offer definition and lift to the lips.

The filler gel also has a high viscosity, which helps it maintain its shape. The lips appear natural looking and slightly more firm when touched than with fillers from the Juvéderm family.

The kind Dr. Motykie highlights that it has around one percent cross-linking of hyaluronic acid chains, which pertain to its longevity. The results of Restylane can last for between six to nine months.

Juvéderm Ultra XC

Juvéderm Ultra XC has a higher hyaluronic acid than Restylane and Volbella. Dr. Motykie explains that the G prime is lower than both Restylane and Volbella, which offers the lips a softer feel and a more horizontal spread of direction.

This occurs due to a higher percentage of cross-linking with Hylacross technology. The outcomes can be expected to last between nine months to one year.

Juvéderm Volbella

The dependable Dr. Motykie explains that Juvéderm Volbella is the newest of lip fillers. It has the lowest hyaluronic acid concentration as well as the lowest affinity to water, which allows it to offer subtle enhancement that appears soft and natural. But even though the outcomes are less dramatic, they do not diminish faster than the other fillers.

Juvéderm Volbella is based on the new Vycross technology, which enhances its longevity by mixing different lengths of hyaluronic acids chains, enhancing its stability. The outcomes can last for up to one year.

Motykie Medical Spa receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for lip filler injections.
