Two non-surgical procedures specially designed to reduce chin fat were cleared by the FDA in 2015. These include Kybella Injections and CoolMini treatment from Zeltiq, the company that offers CoolSculpting. Both medspa treatments provide an effective alternative to liposuction for the reduction of submental fat.
Kybella or ATX-101 treatment includes delivery of several tiny injections in the submental area to reduce double chin appearance. CoolMini, on the other hand, involves the same unique cooling process to reduce chin fat, which is the hallmark of CoolSculpting.
Motykie medical spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides both Kybella and CoolMini procedures to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.
Kybella is a unique medication based procedure designed specifically to reduce submental fat. Following successful clinical trials, the FDA has given its approval to Kybella, which makes it the first and only FDA approved injectable procedure for chin fat reduction. Different patients will require different number of injections and med spa treatment sessions according to their specific needs.
Kybella treatment can be customized to match with the unique aesthetic needs of the patient, but a maximum of six treatment sessions are only possible. In a very short period of time, Kybella has gained wide popularity because of the successful results achieved in terms of a slimmer chin profile in a completely non-surgical way. Motykie medical spa receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for Kybella.
How does Kybella Work?
Kybella medication utilizes the power of deoxycholic acid, which is a biological agent present in the body to support the natural fat absorption process. When a synthetic form of this agent is delivered in a controlled manner through small injections directly into the submental tissue, it triggers dismantling of the undesirable fat cells. The body gradually re-absorbs these cells, revealing a slimmer chin profile.
Zeltiq created the CoolMini applicator to enable the treatment providers to reach narrow or difficult-to-access areas in the body such as the submental region under the chin. CoolMini treatment involves the same innovative cooling process as CoolSculpting to freeze off the unwanted fat cells. Once the unwanted cells are frozen, they eventually disintegrate and get removed from the body.
Smaller amounts of fat from the submental area are cleared smoothly with CoolMini. Patients will usually require only one or two CoolMini sessions to reduce double chin appearance, with each session lasting for about one hour. In most cases, up to 20 percent fat under the chin can be reduced with CoolMini program.
Unlike Kybella, CoolMini is a completely non-invasive procedure, involving no needles and no administering of any type of medications. It exposes the targeted submental area to a very cool temperature, which selectively freezes the cold-sensitive fat cells. These cells gradually disintegrate and get removed from the body in a natural way. With minimal to no discomfort and simply no downtime, the patient is able to achieve enhanced chin contours.
