The Therapeutic and Health Benefits of Massage
Massage is a general term that includes rubbing, pressing, and manipulating the tendons, skin, muscles, and ligaments. Massage can be performed in various intensities, ranging from light to deep pressure, and may include a variety of massage techniques. Massage is often thought of primarily as a pampering relaxation service; however, it can also be a powerful treatment to help patients improve various health conditions and take charge of their health and well-being.
At Motykie medical spa (located immediately adjacent to Dr. Motykie’s primary practice office in west Hollywood, California), one of our most popular health and wellness services is massage therapy—in addition to being an effective relaxation technique, massage offers a remarkable number of healing, therapeutic, and health benefits, and is often recommended as a complementary treatment for patients suffering from a broad range of medical conditions and ailments.Contact us Today
The lymphatic drainage that occurs during a massage can facilitate the body’s detoxification and healing abilities, and may even speed up the metabolism. Many studies have found that massage therapy may be a useful ancillary treatment for conditions such as:
- Digestive disorders
- Stress-related insomnia
- Nerve pain
- Sports injuries
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Soft tissue injuries or strained muscles
- Temporomandibular joint pain
At Motykie medical spa, we are pleased to offer massage/body therapy by Judy Antido, a licensed & certified massage therapist with an impeccable reputation and loyal client base.
Judy Antido offers a number of customized body treatments, including:

Massage Therapy Options
Custom Swedish Massage
One of the most popular forms of massage, Swedish massage focuses on relaxing the entire body. Long strokes are used to rub the tissues and musculature in the direction of the blood returning to the heart. When performed with proper technique, Swedish massage therapy transcends simple relaxation and offers additional benefits such as decreasing muscle toxins and improving flexibility and circulation.
Deep Therapeutic Massage
Although similar in many respects to a Swedish massage, a deep therapeutic massage involves the application of deeper, more intensive pressure to release chronic tension within the innermost layers of muscular tissue. This form of massage can also relax the fascia tissue and tendons that protect and surround the bones, joints, and muscles. Deep tissue massage is often focused on a specific trouble zone, such as a sore shoulder or hamstring muscle, and can be particularly helpful for athletes recovering from sports injuries.
Aches and pains are all too common during pregnancy, as the female body attempts to adjust to the new and often intense strains placed upon it. Prenatal massage can help to alleviate specific pain points (i.e. Leg cramps, stiff neck, sore back) while helping pregnant mothers-to-be feel pampered and relax during what can be a very difficult and stressful time.
The body undergoes a series of changes over time, and massage can be an excellent tool to help increase circulation, minimize muscle/tissue soreness, and improve flexibility in older patients. Our mature patients often require a highly customized approach to massage therapy that respects their specific medical conditions, pain points, and treatment goals.
Whatever your concerns or massage therapy goals may be, Judy will offer a personalized approach to offer you a relaxing respite from your hectic schedule while simultaneously addressing and treating any troublesome physical ailments or discomfort.
